Topics covered include but are not limited to: - Reading Comprehension: identifying main ideas, themes, tone, and author’s purpose. - Rhetorical Analysis: understanding rhetorical strategies, appeals, and how writers shape meaning. - Argument Writing: crafting claims, evidence, reasoning, counterarguments, and clear thesis statements. - Essay Structure: introductions, body paragraphs, transitions, conclusions, and logical flow. - Grammar & Mechanics: sentence structure, punctuation, clarity, and stylistic precision. - Vocabulary & Diction: word choice, connotation, academic vocabulary, and effective phrasing. - Close Reading Skills: annotation, textual evidence, inference, and pattern recognition. - Research & Synthesis: integrating sources, avoiding plagiarism, and building cohesive arguments. - Creative & Personal Writing: narrative techniques, voice, tone, and expressive clarity. - Revision & Editing: improving organization, clarity, coherence, and stylistic polish.
Preparation Policy
To ensure that every tutoring session is productive, personalized, and fully prepared, all students are required to submit the specific topic or assignment they would like to cover at least 24 hours before their scheduled session. Uploads of homework and class material are encouraged. Providing this information in advance allows tutors to: - Prepare targeted explanations and examples - Create customized practice problems - Review any relevant materials you share Make the most efficient use of our time together If a topic is not submitted within the 24‑hour window, the session may need to be rescheduled or used for general review instead of targeted instruction.
